The story:
We define our world based on our stories and experiences. This makes sense until we try to choose one story, one illustration, to put our view of what our society is in a box---a box that we want to seem neatly packaged with well-defined edges. But that box isn't black and white---it's gray---many shades of gray with beautiful nuance and overlapping with others' lives. America isn't "My" -- one storyline. It's a wonderful mix of people with differences, and our different stories make our America. My hope is that we see all the shades of gray, embrace the nuances, and learn to be better versions of ourselves.
