story. Gainesville was a station on the Southern Overland Mail Line (Butterfield Route), which provided semi-weekly mail and stage service between St. Louis and San Francisco from 1858-1861.

"This mural was the one I was the most nervous about for this project...how do you depict a stagecoach route other than a map and a horse drawn stagecoach, but will it be eye catching? I used a flat off-white paint to accomplish the aged black and white photo look for the stagecoach and horses. And this is the only mural I've done with a grid (I usually free hand sketch with chalk or pencil), which was interesting to do, to get all those horse legs proportional."
