Southern Maryland Playing Card Collection

This series of eight paintings pairs the natural and cultural icons of the Chesapeake Bay region with individual playing cards — each pairing chosen not at random, but by logic. Some numbers mirror a shape, a suit echoes a silhouette, or a name hides inside another name. Each card was selected because something in its geometry, value, or identity already belonged to its subject, waiting to be seen.
