The story:
A single ice cream cone symbolizes winter loosening its grip, and something sweeter begins to take its place as we move into March. Multiple inspirations influenced this week’s subject of an ice cream cone. The soft pink and white of the ice cream recalls the cherry blossoms at the heart of my most recent larger canvas artwork, a reminder that the same palette can hold both spring petals and the indulgence of a perfect scoop. This piece also grew out of a recent mural commission for a local ice cream shop, but somewhere in the process, it became a meditation on the last week of February, when the cold still lingers, but the light has already changed. Ice cream melts. Winter melts. The seasons turn.
I chose the two of spades for the second month of the year and the suit representing winter.
